In January 2025, the Green Bliss Foundation, in collaboration with Tropenbos Ghana, conducted a Livelihood Skills Training in Mankranso and Nkawie, directly engaging 198 participants in the technical and entrepreneurial aspects of soap production (liquid and bar).

The training formed part of the Gender Responsive and Integrated Landscape Management Project (GRILMaP), designed to enhance income generating opportunities, stimulate creativity, and support sustainable livelihoods in hotspot communities across the Ashanti Region.
Facilitated by Ms. Rebecca Khartey, the sessions combined technical instruction with practical exercises, allowing participants to gain confidence and competence in soap production. Key areas covered included:
• Step by step guidance for producing liquid and bar soaps
• Proper handling of ingredients, mixing, molding, and curing processes
• Product design and creative packaging techniques
• Effective use of local resources, including shea butter, cocoa extracts, and essential oils
Participants were encouraged to innovate, experimenting with local scents and designs, and to consider entrepreneurial applications for the skills acquired.
The training also highlighted the business and financial aspects of soap production, supporting participants to explore small scale enterprise opportunities. Several attendees expressed interest in establishing their own soap making ventures, demonstrating the potential for sustainable income generation.
By equipping community members with practical skills and entrepreneurial knowledge, the Green Bliss Foundation and Tropenbos Ghana aim to enhance economic resilience and promote self-reliance within Mankranso, Nkawie, and surrounding communities.
The training reinforced GRILMaP’s commitment to community empowerment, combining technical expertise, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Participants not only gained practical livelihood skills but also developed confidence and creativity to pursue sustainable business opportunities.
